Good evening all.

Can somebody tell me how to tell how long an ad has been on Autotrader? I thought I'd saved the 'how to', but I can't find it...

And secondly, is the postcode in the url that of the seller? It doesn't match the supposed location of the car...

It's in the URL - let's use this advert for my old KTM as an example (or I would if the forum software wouldn't keep bloody interfering 🤬 )

As far as I can see, the postcode is based on your search value and nothing to do with the advertiser's location - i.e. if you link directly to an advert, the postcode variable is omitted.

Exactly that. Bear in mind that it's the age of that specific advert, so if the seller has readvertised, perhaps on a six week booking, he may have been trying to sell for longer.

Also useful to comment that when you search you can sort by advert age which will help you focus on newer, or older, adverts.

On the Mercedes front, you can see older SL's, and older cars generally, advertised which have been advertised for a year, as the seller's convinced it must be worth more than buyers seem to think.

If you click on this, you'll see that this ad has been up there for 2 1/2 years, dating from September 2022

There is an Autotrader price tracker available for some browsers - Search for "AT Price Tracker" followed by your preferred browser name. I think that it was originally intended for Chrome, but I use it with Opera.

And price tracker on that one shows he's not dropped it one penny in price since he listed it. Delusional!! Hopefully he did a "list till sold" advert....so its not costing him anything more to keep it there.

They wouldn’t be the first to advertise a car that they have absolutely no intention of selling 👀

Judging by the pics I doubt the seller is in any real hurry for the space, or the funds 😅

With inflation the price has actually softened a little since it was listed 🤣 and I suspect being it’s an SL, if it really is in such fine condition it’ll be worth that much one day 😉
