hi

at the weekend i fitted the aux loom to comand (thru glovebox to back of comand).

i connected a MP3 CD walkman player to this and seems to work ok, apart from you get some interferance (ie you can here the cd mechanism a bit). Also the volume seems to be quite low compared to the radio.

i think i got the pins correct on the back of comand but the instructions i had didnt say what pins the black wire and the unshielded wire should go to, instead just referred to them both as black thick and thin wires, but i dont know if i got them the correct way round.

if i didnt would that cause the problem above? just want to avoid pulling comand out again if this all sounds normal.

does anyone else get interference with the aux loom at all?

cheers

p.s. they should put the pop-out hole in the glovebox on the right hand side of the box :(

It's definitely not right. The sound quality through aux-in on mine is great with no interference. My initial thought is that the shield hasn't been connected.

You got one of these?:

The correct C2 pin connections are:

Pin 04: aux-in right
Pin 05: aux-in right GND
Pin 13: aux-in left
Pin 14: aux-in shield

So, you're "unshielded" wire should go to pin 14. I don't have a description of the other wires, but I know it worked first time on mine.

Re, glovebox; yep, I agree. I had already cut out a hole on the right, before I noticed the one on the left  (obviously designed for the LHD market).

Cheers

hi

cheers for that Andrew.

thats the exact wire i bought (i got the part number from your how-to infact ;))

i will check which pin i put the unschielded one on; maybe i got the black wire and the unshield wire the wrong way round.

EDIT: i put the yellow wire to pin 4, brown to pin 5, and the black and unshielded to either 13 and 14.

Is this correct? i followed a WIS document (which didnt say which was black and which was unshielded).... is the LEFT + and - yellow and brown?

I followed the WIS from HERE

derek

Cheers for that Derek, not seen it before. Duly saved :) . I note the part number we've got is A210 440 50 05. The part number in that article is A203 540 61 07. That would explain the "thin-gauge", "thick gauge" as opposed to black and unshielded difference.

Think that may be it. I'm banging my head here as I can't remember (and obviously didn't note down) the colour/pin numbers ... which is even more annoying as I then put in a second connector for the iPod

I would pull COMAND out and swap pins 13 and 14 and test the MP3 player whilst it is out. There should be no degradation in sound quality.

Cheers
Andrew

looks like thats it fixed.

i swapped the wires around so;

Pin 04: yellow
Pin 05: black
Pin 13: brown
Pin 14: shield

and it seems to work fine. looks like as the wire colours were different between the AUX loom we have and the one listed in that WIS

This thread really shows how helpful this forum can be.

I just love stories with happy endings. :bannana:

(My daughter gets cross because I don't like films with sad endings ;) )

Good morning,
