AVG 8 free about to be released

It has been released. It will uninstall your avg anti virus and anti spyware on the install, watch out that yahoo does not become your default search engine and take the tool bar. It looks very good but time will tell.

I had an issue with AVG in the past - not checked recently so might be resolved now.

With multiple user accounts on Vista, it would only update each account individually(i.e when signed in) so if a user hadn't used the PC for a while they got a pile of updates. Even though the PC had been getting regular updates with other users.

Very annoying, forced a switch to Avast.

It seems much better... it wall also put tick marks next to safe websites in your browser

I've moved up to AVG 8 from 7.5 on my two computers, one running Vista (no SP1), the other running XP SP2. No problems other than both machines are definitely slower when on the web. I'm using the latest version of Firefox. It is noticeably slower and the only difference since I noticed the downturn in performance is AVG 8.

Anyone else notice this?

Forget the IE toolbar wotsit. I never normally install these, but tried the AVG one and had to remove it.

Yep....ive also noticed the same.....also it is highly processor intensive when it starts to scan.

Yup same here, my age old Home PC just couldn't cope with it and I had to uninstall.

Work PC fine, but a little slower on Firefox.

Shame really - the one reason why I initially moved to AGV was because 7.5 was quite light to run and did not bog the machine down - seems that they are now going in the opposite direction !!!!!
