Hi all,
When my phone is connected by Bluetooth listening to music, the audio quality is horrendously bad, with just radio, or cd it's fine.

When volume is a comfortable level it is all distorted and crackling

Any ideas?

Hi,

What sound system do you have?

What app are you using to play your music? Apps like Spotify allow you to stream/download music at differnt qualities and you can set volume levels such as normal or loud etc.

Have you adjusted the equaliser on your phone settings and on the car? If your phone is set to amplify the base for example this could be why your music isn't clear.

Hello,

I just use the standard apple music, its set to download at the highest quality I've recently changed it to that to hopefully solve the problem, but it didn't.

I've played around with the car audio settings, lowering bass etc, with bass and teble set at 0 it's still poor quality, crackling and not clear.

I am unsure if the apple music eq is different, not sure how to find it

Is your phone connecting directly to the car via bluetooth or are you using a dongle or anything.

Try playing a music video of youtube and see if you notice any difference.

Other thing I can think of is don't put your volume to max on your phone have it one tier down and try that.

Did you check your equaliser on your phone settings as I mentioned as well?

It's connected direct via Bluetooth, not on a dongle

I shall try youtjbe and see how I get on,

To be honest, I am not sure how to check the eq on my phone

Looks like you are using an android.

Go to settings, sounds and vibrations then sound quality and you should be in a menu that looks similar to the picture I shared above.

Or go to settings and search equaliser.

Thanks,

I can tweak them individually but there is certain fixed settings, it's already set to music, dolby atmos and all eqs are off

Have you got the option of aux in? I messed around with Bluetooth for ages but the quality will never be as good as hard wired via aux in or usb, so I gave up.

Really, that is strange. Could just be on older MB models. I never had any issues on my w205 or current w213

With my other cars, and even a transit van, Bluetooth audio is flawless, not so much this eclass!

I've improved it a little, on the physical car settings it was set to boost, knocked that off and it was a little less cracking and distorted

I found Bluetooth sound quality to be pretty poor on my 2016 S212. Far inferior to the cheap Bluetooth fm transmitter I used on my old Volvo.

Did you try via another app?

Not had any audio issues on my 212 2009 via bluetooth… crystal clear! You could try speaking to COMAND Online they’d probably know what’s wrong

Bluetooth audio streaming works perfectly well on my 2013 W204 with COMAND NTG4.5. All I can suggest is that you try a firmware upgrade (at a dealer or specialist).

I know I'm a little late to this party but I had this issue with my car. As nas said in settings then, sound and vibrations, sound quality and effects then go to equaliser. Mine was set to 'custom' I tried a few different presets but 'pop' and 'normal' seemed to be good all rounders. Sounds perfect now.
