new B180 CDI transmission failure

Hi
I bought the B180 CDI in 2012 april( one of the first cars in uk new model).
Last week- dashboard flashed red and stated " without gear change contact workshop"
I couldn't figure out, its automatic gearbox.....
I contacted the emergency no, the MB roadside assistance came over, checked the car and said the gearbox malfunctioned- towed the car to MB dealer in central Birmingham. I have been give a courtesy car from a rental company. After a week i contacted the dealer- and i was told its gearbox problem and they have contacted the company re this. No further details available.

What a frustration....nearly new car.....with automatic gearbox, done 12k miles and transmission failure.

Will update this forum when i hear any news from dealer....

Hi Mattbritain, hope you fixed the problem with the gearbox. I have a very similar problem with my 2013 B class. Two forum members had fixed the same issue on another car (C class I think). It turned out to be stripped splines between engine output shaft and gearbox input). One of the members is quite experienced with Merc gearboxes and these guys are very helpful.
