What Car? ran an article recently about a new B-Class owner whose car was losing power suddenly. The MB dealer acknowledged that this problem was not uncommon as they had other B-Classes awaiting investigation for the same problem. Anyone got any more info on this issue? Any input would be very much appreciated as I cannot find anything on this site.

Nope ... but I hope mine doesn't develop this ! Its had above average use with mainly motorway driving and covered almost 10k miles so far, and no technical glitches whatsoever.

I threw out the relevant What Car? copy  . But from memory it was a new B-Class diesel and person's first MB - car lost all power on the motorway nearly causing pile-up. Car restarted OK. Visited dealer...all was 'fixed' then happened again. Back to dealer...they had other B-Class diesels with same issue. No comment from DCUK. Owner rejected car, but DCUK would not refund 100%. Owner grudgingly accepted lower settlement figure. Owner mighty pi**ed off with DCUK and MB brand. The End.

Sounds like it could be some sort of turbo problem. Other merc diesel engines (270) have had problems with turbos causing similar problems to what you describe.

same issue with some volvo models.
saw on watchdog last night.
