B Class W246 No Heating !!!!

I need some advise on my wife's B class 2012.
It's 1.8cdi
The temperature gauge barley moves and only after about an hours worth of driving you get a little warm air from the heather. On short trips no chance of getting warm.
Air con has not worked for a few years so not sure if's related.
Any pointers would be good ................ maybe a simple thermostat

Almost certainly a new thermostat required.

As above, change the thermostat. You should notice a significant improvement in fuel consumption after changing it.

The problem is exacerbated by the current old weather and the car having a diesel engine.
