Well I did the head gasket again, taking a lot more care over the scraping this time, and it seems to have failed. Again.
Symptoms are grey/white smoke, mayonnaise under the filler cap, coolant level dropping rather a lot, and seemingly higher than usual pressure in the cooling system, although this could be to the high temperature of the water.
I'm giving it a couple of hours to cool down, then I'll see what it does. If it does the same thing its going on ebay and autotrader as is.
So anyone want a 190E 2.6 with a head gasket problem?
