Good day Good people...

I have a weird issue with my Merc B180...Its 2014 model.
The Car on idle does not rev beyond 3000 rpm.. there is no loss of power or other issues. The only other issue i noticed is that the engine oil level is going down pretty quickly.. needs top up every 2-3 months.. And this is without the car being driven much(only 2000 miles in the last 12 months)..

I read some forums and believe it could be the intercooler pipe or something else causing the issue. No EML on the Dash...

Any ideas?

Thank you Geoffus...

When the car is parked/Neutral, it does not rev up beyond 3k. Although some articles said about this, the car use to go beyond 3k rpm. not sure what changed.. And given that the engine oil is vanishing too quickly, I was under the impression that this is someother issue..

As long as your car will rev past 3000rpm when in gear its OK, the issue with oil loss is probably unconnected.

Yeah, safety feature to stop no load over revving?

As has been stated, its normal for your car to only rev to 3k revs in Park/neutral. Nothing to worry about
It does sound like you have an oil leak though.
You have an excellent Mercedes specialist on your doorstep in Star Motor Services in Caversham.
I would advise you book it in for an inspection to determine where your oil is going.
