Just wondered if anyone had any experience of putting a forward facing child seat in a 2002 SLK?

I suspect you'd need a seat with an M-B transponder to deactivate the passenger airbag.
My SL is older and doesn't have that facility ... the airbag is live if the weight sensor indicates that the seat is occupied. So the advice is just to make sure the passenger seat is moved fully back if you have a child seat on it.
