Back again

Hi All - been lurking back a little this year, but couldn't get my old handle "MrE" up and running again, so have registered as a new member

A lot has happened since last posting a while back - I won't bore you with the details - but I've sold my W212 to my son (yesterday - he may well be joining too) as I've inherited my late-wife's CLK320 Cabrio.

He (Ali called him "Henning") was laid up under a cover for about 5 years and the plan was always to get him back on the road for this summer. Despite circumstances, I've done that and he came home yesterday. Path to getting him back was:

• Get him to a German Car specialist in Worthing (Cedar Garage), where they did an MOT to see what was needed - failed on a bit of plastic sticking up from a cracked bumper, and the EML warning light on. Advisories on wiper blades, failed number plate bulb (1), and delaminating rear number plate.
• New MAF, new bulbs and wiper blades, new battery, major service - new MOT
• Interior valet - pax seat was mildewy as there was a slight leak from the roof (down to the proofing...)
• Then went up to Cayman in Redhill to have the hood serviced, cleaned, reproofed, and to fit new struts to the boot separator.
• Broke down on the way home - Crank Position Sensor failed, so that was fitted.

Bought him home yesterday evening (which was a little emotional) and sold/passed the W212 to my boy.

Work to do:

• Replace front bumper
• Sort out the central locking (works on the little black square, but not from a distance)
• No ariel signal being picked up by the COMAND unit (might be related to the above)
• Driver's side headrest doesn't move (that was a problem from before)
• Refurb wheels and get new tyres for the staggered set in the garage (currently on the winter set)

Good to be back. Feel free to blame me for the lack of summer this year!
