Bad day for Grandaughter

My grandaughter had her new to her A class Amg she was over the moon
Well let us say she had one of worst weeks broke down crying twice due to stress and has put it total Tools at work.
Well left our house this afternoon and phoned me 5 mins later grandad been in a crash on main road so jumped in mine stook to speed limit`s to get there pulled up at roundabout to find she had run into back of lady at about 7mph, well she upsett so I went to move her car Oh no all warnings on dash so gets my comp to reset it walked back went to plug in and car started moving back I hit the handbrake nothing stomped on foot brake went to floor now rolling back into another car that had not moved over to get passed.
Now I jump out appologise to lady I hit and but her partner jumps out and started to growl at me well I went from apologeticto pissed off big guy and growled back so after a bit of snarling. I sayed to the lady what had happened and insurance would sort it and appologised gave them my details and had to push car off to side and had to put my jack under wheel to stop it moving,
My Grandaughter fell to floor and burst into tears my wife and her Mother sorted to her while I checked car dash has loads of warnings no brakes and handbrake fail.
Son turned up brought recover truck and we load car braught it back to ours faults list is

Will not start , abs system failure , immobilize on , no handbrake , brake pedal now back to working , loads of messages about failed systems. Front bumper now broken front grill and star with sensor behind it and rear bumper now wants fixing re paint front and rear bumper .
My main question is why the park brake will not work and what the fluffing hell do you do when rolling and no brakes power and nope it wouldnt jam in gear once rolling had to press clutch to try and start
So a brick and bit of rope to stop it moving at moment.
My insurance informed they said they will sort it and not to worry has video shows from my cars dashcam the scene and I must have been a short roll back and the car shouldnt have pulled up behind grandaughters car
so yep one pissed off day but Grandaughter ok dad going to fix car for her we got A mate coming with star system to check system on weds and get it up and running and then to body shop for Dads mate to sort
BUT SO PISSED why a handbrake want work after a small impact

well that`s a twist to the tale .
Grandaughter phoned me last night it turn`s out the car I rolled back into was one of her staff who had just got the car she didnt recognize my grandaughter because of her being comforted by my wife and others until she pulled away but she tryed contacting her after but my grandaughter didnt answer her work phone ( oops )
So this lady phoned me today she said due to to it being grandaughter and its only a cracked grill and chrome surround I said I would buy them for her and not bother insurance because premiums will go up even for her she was happy with that it`s the decent thing to do, so just orderd part`s .
checked grandaughters car took front bumper off broke all clips on grill , mount for sensor behind star , cracked paint ,
Park brake still not working and all dash say`s now anti theft system engaged so now just got to wait for mate coming on Tues now to reset every thing.
But at least no one hurt she a little stiff today so we will get her back in her car has soon has she will drive it for a while like is and when she goes way for a week body shop going to sort it for her so when she gets back will be sorted

She back on road now well car is, Last night Mate Chris came over after work with star system to sort her car, The main reason the park brake failed at crash site was aux battery was dead so without it no park brake so put a new one on he checked system there was a broken wire behind sensor at the back of star so took star out fixed wire all checked out, deleted crash data all systems fine.
But grandaughter got very panicky when it came time to get in so her mum took her car home for her.
bless her it`s her first crash it`s knocked her confindence but she going out with fiance today.

I guess you have a trade policy or similar? 3rd party cover for driving other vehicles used to be standard with normal fully comp, but most insurance companies dropped this years ago so you need to be careful about doing favours nowadays. I drove a friend's van (containing his dogs) back to his house after his wife was carted off in an ambulance ... it only struck me later that I'd almost certainly been driving uninsured

So this lady phoned me today she said due to to it being grandaughter and its only a cracked grill and chrome surround I said I would buy them for her and not bother insurance because premiums will go up even for her she was happy with that it`s the decent thing to do, so just orderd part`s .

Unfortunately your insurance will likely have logged this in the database when you contacted them, so you'll probably have to declare it now when asked "have you been involved in any accidents in the last x years (regardless of whether there was a claim or not)?".

Yes I have fully comp with ability to drive other cars allways check like you been burt before , I told them but they said It wasnt my problem didnt want any details because apparentley if the engine wasn`t running its not my fault but if the driver of other car made a claim it would come down to Grandaughter`s insurance to fix thats why The lady whos car I hit said if I got the grill which all that was damaged and fit it thats the end so have done that. It did cost me £125 but at least grandaughter not getting hammered for it.

Hi She not heared anything the rear bumper had a star emblem mark on it but all down to lady,
allthough it was low speed 7 mph couldnt say But grandaughter went to hospital last night she torn a ligament in her back but at moment she is just waiting when grandaughter fell on floor crying the lady who she hit was very nice to her but to be honest I dont know

But good news she was about to swap insurance due to renewal being high so I told her to ring new company and tell them she did and they said it wouldnt affect her no claims she had produced so her new insurance is now half what her renwal was.
the car that is claiming against her is a vauxhall corsa with a Mercedes emblem in rear bumper Lol

Its a 14 Plate checked her video of accident not sure why she stopped but slowed it down and zoomed at back of car its more like a rolling bump, I cannot see any damage
But insurance say grandaughter should have braked in time so a lesson learned

Grandaughter follow this car for a good mile or so in a 60 at 45 keeping 2 car lengths away and at roundabout car in front slowed she slowed then she went pull out right at right time breaked hard
so have to go along with insurance

Hi Mate yes she did, but it`s down to them at end of day what ever happens next year her premiums will go up

Yup , I have posted on here before that my wife's car was hit by another driver (low speed) while parked , engine not running , keys not in ignition .(she was loading the kids in at the time ) . Insurance companies went 50/50 'knock for knock' . both drivers at fault !

I queried it with my broker who said (in this case) it would not affect her NCB or 'record' but the companies were just doing what was easiest for them to process the claim.

They move in mysterious ways.

They have....its very difficult without a medical report and scan etc. Modern cars with correctly adjusted headrest make it difficult to happen too. Too many fraudsters. I friend of my fathers really did have whiplash after being hit buy a texting trucker. He had almost given up on the claim when they put their hands up.....so difficult was the process.
