Bad driving, bad parking, or both?

Both

Should have stopped after the bump, but parking on the kerb is dumb

If I could vote for one option it would be bad parking. I see plenty of mum trucks abandoned in dumb places in London......usually somewhere very convenient for them and very inconvenient for everyone else. Best yet was the "lady" who parked her mobile roadblock on the zig zags lines by a pelican crossing outside my kid's school at 8.45 am on a school day. I politely asked her to move it but she just looked at me disdainfully and walked off.

How can it be the fault of a stationary vehicle? Especially as the CCTV shows other cars driving past without hitting it, showing it can be done.

How about the Merc driver looking where he or she is going and not racing on the street? Might that have avoided the collision?

Yeah I'd agree, anyone hitting anything stationary regardless of where or what it is, is always the fault of the driver.

There are two, not one, mums driving Cadillac Escalades in St Johns Wood...

Double yellows are there for a reason - to ensure the free movement of traffic. She shouldn't have parked there and gets no sympathy from me.

Right; I'm going to get a Hummer H2. I MUST protect my children. I WILL protect them from death.

(Plus I get to park it where I like).

You cant blame the Merc driver how was he/she to know he/she never had room to undertake the other car and clear the illeagally parked chelsea tractor! He/she was probably driving it like they stole it! because they had!

Tony.

Car should not be parked there, but how can you miss an inanimate object like that, got to be a total lack of concentration.
