Hi,
Car started to misfire badly while towing it didn’t go into limp mode and no management light on.
my basic code reader shows 4 faults with the G3/2 O2 sensor but would these cause the misfire?
2030-4, 2038-2, 2195-4, 2032-1
engine will tickover and rev fine. Faults will stay cleared but come back as soon as car is driven
Managed to limp about 2miles to camp site we‘re now stuck in the Peak District with our caravan, advice appreciated

Get it to a specialist (Indy) with a decent code reader or preferably STAR/Xentry. It will save you money in the long run.

That would be the plan if we weren’t stuck here, just wondered if the codes shown would cause this fault I thought th O2 sensor was for emissions

The O2 is to detect emissions but sometimes basic code readers are not the best to detect faults. Are the faults related to all the sensors? I wouldn't think they would all go faulty at the same time (2 on this car I think). Common causes of misfire are usually spark plugs and/or coil packs. I am guessing you don't have any breakdown cover. On idle, the engine isn't under any real load and hence the problems arise when you are on the move. Not much you can do at a campsite regarding getting parts etc. How far is home? Could you drive home and stop/reset the faults as and when they arise?

From the experiences my friend had with his car (BMW 330i), sensors can make the car run weirdly (O2 sensors) causing bad engine timing. Best bet is to take it to a mechanic with a good diagnostic as it could just be down to the sensors.

If the issue was mechanical and causing misfire, more likely than not then even at idle you would hear something, since it only kicks in when driving, could very well be a sensor issue.

Have never had the issue myself, please keep us updated! Hope you get it fixed soon and that it's not something expensive.

Just the one O2 sensor G3/2 up stream of cat is showing All four faults. 320 CDI is of course diesel but fault feels just like a petrol with ignition probs. Found someone who can get caravan home for us so may try to limp home or get car relayed back. Wasn’t sure if 02 sensor fault is red herring

As others have suggested you really need to get the car onto Star for definitive diagnosis. I had a w211 v6 cdi which had a o2 sensor fault code but it showed no signs of poor running and passed mot emissions. So it may be a red herring.

Ah ok. Your title said 320 and so I assumed it was a petrol

Sorry for delay on updating this.
Found exhaust back pressure sensor (next to EGR valve) is U/S showing stupidly high pressure readings even at rest new sensor collected today will fit at weekend.
Need to clean EGR valve but it’s proving extremely stubborn to remove any tips on how this can be lifted off please?

Job sorted, the fault was the exhaust back pressure sensor Cost £49 ex stock from main dealer
