Our boy (Clarke) won!!!!!!!

He was at great pains to point out he is from NORTHERN IRELAND.

Not the UK or Great Britain. As was repeated by both his parents and fiancée.

Sorry. I dont class Clarke as "our" boy.

Boy? He was the oldest British open champion in history.

Congratulations to him however. It was a good tournament played on an excellent course subjected to almost everything the elements could throw at the competitors.

Well done to the amateurs as well.

Agree with VTD. Over 4 days he was certainly the most consistent player and, if he had not missed the putt on the 18th, would have been the only one to be under par for all 4 rounds which, at that course, in those conditions, is a fine acheivement IMHO.
I played the adjacent Princes Course, which is also a links, some years ago and found it nigh on impossible. Nowhere flat apart from the tees and the road in!

...as a Welshman would crow about Wales...

...as a Scotman would crow about Scotland...

are we English bovvered??

ps: congrats to Darren, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke...

VTD...I'm from NI...so he is our boy.

And no, we aint falling into the BBC trap were an Englishman is English when he wins and everyone else (Scotland, Wales and NI) is British.
