can you advise me, noticed the emblem on the bonnet (three point star) was moving about, so bought a new one and fitted it, it does the same. should there be a seal or something to remove this gap. thanks

when you turn the underneath clockwise it should lock tight, but you can still shake it about.

Somethings not right , was there any form of plastic or rubber washer when you took the old one off ?
Normally , no . The spring pressure should be enough

no. thats why i changed it thinking the spring was broken.
