The original owner of this car was generous with the options list. Not many as well specced as this one. @Bajie you found a good one there with respectable mileage for its age and only one previous owner :)

I have added Mercedes Me :D

A while ago I decided I wanted another V8 and, having had such a stress free time with my current E350 Coupe I started looking to see if there was, or had ever been, an E coupe fettled by AMG.

Sadly no. My eyes began to look over the C63 AMGs and more and more toward the 507 which ticked all necessary boxes for me. I did think about getting standard or Performance Pack but, in my opinion the 507 not only looks much more aggressive but I believe will hold value better if the time comes when I would want to move the car on.

I looked at some very nice cars, test drove an awesome Magno coloured version which I could not negotiate a decent price on with the seller. Such is life. I also got dissuaded by the maintenance of the paintwork and also the hell you would go through if the paintwork was damaged. The car did have a clear wrap to protect the paintwork but still had a stone chip [which they had agreed to deal with] but I also have issues with wraps and their longevity and in some instances the way they were put on initially.

Then I saw a pictureless advert for a Black 507 at Chelmsford Mercedes. Over the phone I secured first refusal and arranged test drive for the following week.

The car was unprepared and still looked menacing when I arrived. Unfortunately Luke gave me the keys and we were off for the test drive. I prefer the owner to drive the car first so I can feel the performance from the passenger seat as when you control the throttle you get a different sensation when accelerating. It did not matter, the car pulled well, brakes are fantastic, handles lovely and the steering wheel is a joy to look at.

The only thing missing on my car which I would have liked is the carbon fibre interior rather than piano black and half leather seats with alcantara. Then it would have been perfect.

I have found I have a carbon fibre splitter and carbon fibre inserts on the bonnet vents. I will be giving the car a thorough seeing to with my friendly detailer and hope to find more.

Thanks for reading, a bit War and Peace this update

:D

That’s a mean beast!

Lovely nice to see another 507 on the Forum ENJOY

That's a lovely car, I still miss mine, it got under my skin like none of the previous cars i'd owned ever did. Enjoy!!

Has anyone gone from a 'normal' C63 to a 507? Would be interested in hearing the differences and similarities?

Ah, good old De Giuseppe. Knock on wood he assembles things well so you’re sorted :D

Has anyone gone from a 'normal' C63 to a 507? Would be interested in hearing the differences and similarities?

No, but I’ve been from a “normal” C63 non-PP but with AMG diff, to the same car with a remap (so roughly a 507), to the same again with headers. The difference between non-remap and remap was stark, and the difference with headers was actually the most savage. I love it.

Other than that, I can’t comment on whether the PP/507 lighter crank and bits makes any real difference, and as I don’t track the car I don’t feel any need for the composite discs as they never fade on me, but I guess they both make a small difference somewhere. Worth noting that an LSD on the 507 was an optional item like the rest of the facelift cars, so I’d hazard a guess that a normal C63 with it would probably get off the line better and perhaps out of the corners better. That said, the C63’s I’ve driven without one have felt really good anyway.

Well the clean is completed and I am a happy chappie ...

I am considering resonator and secondary cat removal to allow better breathing but want the sound below 3000rpm to stay as it is.

Any further mods would be increased tyre width to 245 front 265 rear and LSD

I’m loving the car. It’s awesome [emoji41]

These cars are very well made indeed @Bajie , I’m glad you like it .
And the paintwork has come up really well - someone worked there manic in it I see .

I’m not sure whether you know or not , but Mercedes did actually make a twin Turbo’d E500 V8 cab 212 chassis , and I mean this thing was rare . Only ever saw 1 at work .
Was a beast and did it sound mean . Right hand drive as well which I was shocked about .

That is a real beauty
