Looks interesting/amusing and right up my street.

I thought that too.

I'm already bank of Dad to my two sons - no loan facility though, just a constant stream of credit .

It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds. I've seen the trailer where someone he consults shows him the thick set of regulations he'll have to comply with (and I'm sure that's all for good reason).

He's hardly a trailblazer in what he's trying to achieve, though. There are a few social lending sites offering peer-to-peer loans (eg: Zopa) and even a few schemes where a local currency has been introduced to boost businesses (Totnes, Lewes, Stroud, Brixton).

Have you any experience of Zopa MOCAS?

It seems like a good idea.

No, I've just read a fee encouraging articles about it, but I would consider using it as the returns look quite attractive (providing it's all above board and well managed).

There are loads of credit unions in the UK, I suspect this will operate in a similar fashion, or is he intending to be a merchant banker as well?

I use Zopa... for a small investment so far (just testing it..) not had any issues... have avg 6.2% return over last 12 months... which beats the hell out of any uk bank

What security is there for lenders in Zoopa?

I note their bad debt has risen above their expectation and this year.

You take the bad debt on the chin with Zopa... each lender loses out... but that is offset by the better rates... my return is after charges / bad debt etc.. I quite like it as it amuses me... would however much rather set up my own 1599% apr payday loans business but sadly it isnt that easy.......

Well, I really enjoyed that. I like Dave and I'm looking forward to next weeks episode.

It's good when someone like him (a guy that clearly has little or no inhibitions) will simply continue to ask why?

I enjoyed it...

Hes a character, love the way he let the little boy sit in his Ferrari.

Lads done good and good on him.

(did you notice how close to the kerb at the front it was though...)

2nd ep on now, repeated 10pm on channel4+1
