Where's the smart money next week? Cut or remain the same?

Any thoughts? Or an educated opinion?

Stay the same....uneducated guess

Stay the same I reckon.

It's a difficult job anyway being part of the Monetary Policy Committee, but probably close to being between a rock and hard place at the moment.

They need to increase interest rates to slow down the people who're spending like mad...

...but decrease it if they want to prevent the anticipated surge in repositions from those people that have already spent like mad.

Much as I'd like it to rise, it will stay the same or decrease, depending on whether they feel the credit crunch needs a perk-up. Might restore some confidence.

According to the papers today the cut in US rates means there probably won't be any change.

Stay the same or decrease... It would be much easier if loans had a financial intelligence test against them...

All Economic reports I receive from work point to no change in the rate

Kate Barker has indicated that a rate cut is unlikely. I'd agree with her.

My feeling is, its coming up to christmas. Spending will go nuts for December so they wont cut rates before about Feb 2008.
