bas/esp light on

Hi all i have a 2001 clk 200 manual and the bas/esp light has just gone on and won't go off,anyone got any ideals where i start looking.thanks mark

It could be the brake light switch that is faulty, a common problem.

This happened to me after a flat battery. On here somebody suggested turning the steering wheels lock to lock several times (after fitting new battery). Job done.

Not sure that this would be your issue.

Thanks for the very quick reply's,will try the lock to lock steering first and if that doesn't work,i'll have a look at the brake switch tomorrow.

If not the brake light switch it could be one of the wheel sensors faulty.

It could also be worth getting the codes read on star. Usually the simplest and most cost effective solution.
