Bas esp malfunction

To add to my list of errors and malfunctions after a usual drive I have got a brand spanking new one today which says ESP BAS and lights up two lights in orange on the very left of the cluster. Once the cars turned off and on again it goes away but has happened twice now.

I've read a few different bits about switches under the dash above the brake pedal and the like, but wondered what people thought it was.

CLK 320 Auto coupe 2002 51 plate. 90K

Brake light switch. £8 from the dealers.

Thanks howard, could i trouble you for a how to or more detail so i can tackle it Monday. Cheers.

It's up behind the brake pedal , twist it a quarter turn , and pop it out. The pedal ( when you press it ) depresses the switch and activates the lights , you'll see what i mean when you get under there.

99% certain thats what it will be.

Got one today, I'll take a look under the dash and have a go!

I had this a few times during the cold snap, it went away when the interior warmed up, I have had the brake pedal switch go and the BAS/ESP come on, surely this is the first signs of that happening?

Mines not all the time. Happened twice so far. But switch was about a tenner so worth a go.
