I am on a small touring holiday in Scotland next week. I will be based in Aviemore (staying 3 nights) - What delights should I not miss ?

Drive up the Cairngorm Mountain range, the views are nothing short of amazing

My tuned C270 has bags of torque.... but up a mountain range ?

clay shooting at the Rothie Murcus estate just 2 miles outside Aviemore on the way to the Cairngorms and also on the same road is all weather husky sled dog rides!!

From Aviemore the world is your oyster, head over to Laggan bridge over to Ft William and take the road to the isles.

You can head over to Inverness and up to Torridon/Ullapool and then to Skye, the A87 can take you back to Ft Augustus and head up Loch Ness.

The A82 and Glencoe shouldnt be missed, trick is to stay west IMHO

I shall be writing up my Scottish trip soon, but book a premium tasting at Macallan, great tour and brilliant whiskies.

Cairngorms are beautiful.

I was up in Corpach (Ft William) to collect a car today. weather was beautiful, still snow on the peaks and not a midge in sight. perfect roads, no potholes and amazing scenery. You could just drive around for 3 days in awe... You don't ever get used to it-the sheer scale of the place. Great to watch the RAF doing their manouvres too. Skye just takes my breath away. Love it!

Go to the Ptarmigan restaurant at the top of the funicular, that and a bit of kayaking on Loch Morlich

If the weather is nice and you are travelling through Speyside, do not miss out on the gardens at the Glen Grant distillery.

The Macallan Tasting is nice. Recommended although not the best whisky that you could buy on your travels in the region ...........

You MUST MUST MUST MUST make the effort to head to Fort William through Glencoe.

I'm also there next Week travelling up on Saturday.

My son lives there, he's an adventure training Instructor for the RAF and obviously knows the area well.

If you want to exchange phone numbers and meet up we can have a drink / chat up there.

all day breakfast at the mountain cafe above the outdoor clothing shop. Anything on that menu is fantastic! (the one nearer the railway station). Funnicular railway, opsrey centre, hire mountain bikes from bike bothy and go around rothiemurcus estate - great tracks, sample local ales!, dog sledding. Great place to go for a break!
