I wonder if any of you clever people can help!

I recently changed a few bulbs in the back of the instrument cluster. Now I reconnected everything correctly. I switched on the ignition and all the lights popped up as normal, result!
Then I noticed the battery light started flashing and then went off. I thought it was unusual so switched off the ignition and switched it back on. Now there is not battery light at all? I have changed that bulb for one that I know that works but still no battery light. Any Ideas? Could I have damaged something on the PCB on the back of the instrument cluster?

Any incite would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bulb could have popped :(

Either way your going back in!

The flashing could have been a poor connection...

Check alt connections, had one before looked sound removed nipped up with pliers and was fine for ever afterwards, but as an old electricin once told me, if it was alright before and now its not whatever you have done even if its not related to the electrics is at fault.

He told me this as i spent weeks trying to work as why kawasaki Z1100B1 would blow the fuse and cut out for no apparent reason, eventuallly traced to old horn wires rubbing on the exhaust and shorting tripping the fues, i had removed the horn as it had packed up and there was 2 of them.

I have always remembered this piece of advice and its proved useful several times.

Right, I decided to pull the cluster out again and check all the wires.... I found one that looked dubious! So I stripped the insulation back about an inch. I cut the wire and soldered it back together and used some heat shrink insulation. It now works. I had probably pinched the wire putting the cluster back in. So everyone, Thanks for the help...

I have owned loads of Kawazaki's And I'm well aware of the crappy electrics. Not as bad as Honda's

Fixed excellent:)

I only bough the kwack as i was fed up with honda camchains then, promptly twisted the crank, then holed a piston, then ran for a few years, then wiseco big bore, then blew the rings, then fitted a1 motor then sold, many happy memories.

I owned one of the first ZZR1100's (D3)! I bought it when it was 4 years old. It was high'ish mileage which resulted in an faulty Gear box (3rd and 5th) if I remember correctly. I stripped the motor, Well just removed the motor side casings and split the crankcase, replaced 1 cluster and a selector fork. Many happy miles I had riding that bike... I kept getting hassled by my cousin who wanted to buy it... I decided to to sell it as the bike was hazardous to my licence. I sold it to him, with in a week he wrecked it on the Horseshoe pass... Hondas, I had couple of CB9's they where horrendous for cam chains. I loaned my mate my last one and it spat him off into the carriage way at 50 MPH joining the M58... The cam chain was 3 months old.. I got the bike back and stripped the truly locked motor to find the cam chain went and locked up the engine. Insurance refused to pay up as the place I had the cam chain done didn't have a valid VAT No.? That was a long time ago.
