Battery question

Just measured, the battery are at 11.71 Volts. Replace or recharge? I did measure with car not running.

The battery looks original don’t it?

That battery is from 2011 a noted by the terminal stamp.

Give it a good charge and see how it holds up after a charge.

Otherwise - Get a new original MB battery (based on your vin). You see how long they last. 12 years.

as mentioned get a MB original.

That may be original ones from new, which if it is, it might be on its way out. Have you tried charging it first to see of it goes back up to at least 12.2v. If its good battery it should hold the charge for at least a week.

If not replace. I'm currently running Yuasa Silver High Performance battery. It's just as good as Bosch and Varta if not better. 😁

Being original I rather replace it now instead of having a working battery for a week and then sitting without charge. As I cannot charge the battery in the garage it is be more convenient just to replace it. I also think a new batteri gives peace of mind :)

That totally make sense and I agree 👍 Next bit now is to decide on a battery of your choice.

If you can, charge the new battery before fitting as it may have been stored on shelf for a while.

I had this issue with an MX5 bought brand new yuasa battery and found it totally dead

Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a nice warm sunday!

I get battery warning in white every morning on my CLS so need to change the battery. Car starts fine and functions become available after a while.

Questions - rear battery part is A0055411001 95AH 850CCA

Its showing to be AGM battery but isnt that mainly for stop start cars?

Can anyone suggest if i need AGM and possibly suggest from below link as to which one i should go for?

Starter Battery A 005 541 1001 OEM Part Number - replacement part to OEM
S4 Battery 019 4 Year Guarantee | Car PartsRetailer - Bosch S4 with similiar rating.

Thanks
Try a MB commercial dealer -

From a site I got recommended these based on my car. Both are Varta and for cars with start-stop function. Which one would should I choose?

Varta F21 Silver Dynamic AGM
Varta G14 Silver Dynamic AGM
Check the size of the one fitted. The two you linked are a different length.
My E63 takes the longer G14 one.

Edit. I would certainly get a quote from the main dealer as well. The MB batteries do seem to be recommended for their longevity.

Im sure the w204 c63 hasn't got stop start ?

Thanks for your great eyes, I'll check the size of my current one. Found a good site who offers the G14 for €227 shipped so it's cheaper than the linked one. I'll call the MB main dealer tomorrow, if it's a minor difference I will go for it since the longevity of my current battery. I guess if I had the opportunity for a trickle charge it would be fine for another season.

Maybe not, but it needs an AGM battery doesn't it?
Both of those are marketed as Stop start but in reality just an AGM battery.
I thought the same, my car don't have start-stop but the car probably needs the quality AGM battery offers :)

I've just priced a battery for a 2010 c220d and the difference between stop start and not is £50 ,you are probably correct with the AGM battery

Just purchased the G14 battery for €228 shipped, MB dealership quoted €390 for original so it was a no brainer for me to go with Varta G14.
I'll save my old battery and use it for next hibernation and put the new battery on trickle charging at home.

Maybe next weekend it's time for start up :)
