Hello all,

Replaced my battery today as it was'nt holding its charge. Once replaced and car started got two malfuctions on the dash. One was for traction control and the other for brake assist. Hooked up my diagnostic kit, carried out a full test, cleared all faults, went for a spin and re ran the test. Only fault that came back was C1229 (steering angle sensor). Cleared the fault again and it has stayed off. Anyone know what that fault code means incase it comes back?

Also had drivers window down while changing the battery, and it wouldnt go up using the button on the console. Tried passenger window, went down but wouldnt go up. Used the key fob to lock the car, held button down and both windows went back up. Now they work perfectly, very strange though. Anyone else had any strange going ons after a battery change?

Cheers:dk:

this is normal stuff. if you had pressed the window switches only half way - the manual stage - they would have gone up. after a battery change they need the positions resetting before the auto up will work. go back to the switches and feel for the first click when you press them gently. the steering angler sensor needs resetting too after a batt change, you will find that turning from lock to lock will do this.

If only there was a guide for this in the handbook of all MBs .........

Exits to plough through over 800 pages .......
