I have an 02 s500 w220 and my children left the rear dvd players on and they have drained the battery flat. Where the car is positioned I can't get access to use jump leads so I'll need to get a battery pack. Can anyone tell me what size of battery pack/charger would be needed for this type of car/battery

Cheers

Any charger designed for cars will do the job.

Cant you remove the battery and charge it out the car?

Problems can happen when a battery FULLY discharges. The plates can warp. Only cure is a new battery.

I have one of these from machine mart.

Its on its second year now and has proved to be very useful. Ideal for the type of situation you are in. Just connect it up, (wait 5 minutes) and then fire up the car.

Cant you connect one of those units and fire it up straight away?

Its safer to wait a couple of minutes if the battery is completely flat like this when using any kind of jump leads.

Agree with verytalldave, or how about an extension lead and a charger- this is a safer, more gentle alternative to battery packs; which I think(?) are not recommended by MB. (Yes it may take a bit longer)

Well I got my hands on some very long jump leads today and the car fired up within seconds. I have just finished resetting a few things with the help from some of the posts and everything is working fine. The only thing that is different is that there is a beep coming from the alarm when I arm and dis arm it (this was not there before). The car is in for a check on STAR tomorrow to check the airmatic system so I'll ask the garage to do a check on the alarm also. Thanks for all of the replys

Will that pack work on a 5 litre car ?

Thought they were rated , up to 2 litres , 2 to 4 litres and 4 litres and over ...

Just a quick update on how things went at the dealership. Firstly I take back any negative comments I have ever made about the dealerships. The guy that dealt with my car could not have been anymore helpful. For the some of £80.00 all in, I had all of the faults cleared from the system (in particular two old faults on the pump), the airmatic system re-calibrated, the fault on the alarm was pin pointed at the tailgate manual release mechanism, a bubble of rust approved for a good will repair, a print out of the cars history (in addition to the stamped book) and a wash and hoover

I know the next visit might not be so good but the car for the time being is going really well. Thanks again for the replys

I wonder what "airmatic system re-calibrated" is?
