I have a W reg W210 Avant.,and having run the vin through the Russian site I have found that it is fitted with a high-capacity battery (673) and an alternator with increased capacity (910).Any ideas as to why these have been fitted - to power the AC perhaps?

I have a second battery under the rear seat .Is this the high capacity unit which supplements the battery under the bonnet?

Btw, option 984:"elimination of ownership certificate but with coc papers" -what does that mean?

Thank you for any help

When I had a w210 it didnt have a battery under the bonnet....only one under the rear seat. Also is it a diesel ?
The diesel batteries are larger due to the fact that diesels have a high compression ratio and hence need a lot more grunt in the battery in order to be able to turn the engine over.

Nothing to do with A/C

As your car was built for export rather than domestic use it didn't need the German paperwork.

Where under the bonnet have you got your battery, as I have never seen a W210 with a battery there......Only ever seen them under the rear seat.

My w210 E240 Avantgarde also had those options (high capacity battery, etc., ) and it was located under the rear seat. Nothing under the bonnet as far as I remember.
