Mileage has just entered the M271 camchain Problem zone (£1500 ish to replace with the sprockets) . But lovely looking car

Nice colour. I've got a soft spot for CLK's and in particular the convertibles and would happily have another one but finding the right colour, spec, miles and price is challenging. Oh and one where the tax isn't £500 a year.

Only that it’s all over for the engine if the chain goes , you can sometimes get warning at start up with a few seconds rattle .

Like all these horror stories they don’t affect all M271 cars , but they have had enough problems that there is plenty on The Google for the M271 engine . Cropping up from 80k miles (mine is on 82k ) .
My tactic is plenty of oil changes , I don’t want to be spending £1k + on a 2009 car that I may only have for another couple of year .
You spends your money , you take your chances
