Because “nice weather”

I miss having a convertible in this weather. The BM doesn’t even have a sunroof. Ice cold air con, though, which it needs being black with black leather. Scorchio.

Cheers,

Gaz

Better than mixing with the 500,000 morons at Bournemouth today!

Man: ‘Good morning Bob’

Bob: ‘What’s bloody good about it???’

Great stuff Eddy. Fab photos. Bet it felt good to be out on such a beautiful day.:thumb:

To be honest, I always have the roof closed during the heat of the day in this weather. As good as the a/c etc in the car is, when it is 30C it is no fun in a convertible with the roof open.

I drove across Death Valley in a convertible Mustang. We had to stop and put the roof up so we could have the AC on. Deeply unpleasant.

Cheers,

Gaz

Had a lovely drive on Tuesday down past Camber Sands (car parks heaving) but further east the big car park along the sea wall had lots of space - surprised to see it again open! Parked up near the ice cream vendor for a 99 which we had to eat quickly it was so hot, then a nice walk along the sea wall followed by a drive just to go past our favourite pub "for old times sake" - and they were serving "take away" in plastic glasses so had my first couple of pints of cask ale (Doom Bar) since March, heaven! All roof down in the SLK, even SWMBO enjoyed the drive and pint!

Hifi deals with open top motoring better than air conditioning, that’s for sure!

Driving today past Ragley Hall with Mrs Ted, I remarked that this was one of those very special times.
Attractive wife, roof down, Mercedes sports car, beautiful sunny day, gorgeous Warwickshire (could have been Worcestershire) countryside.
Absolutely wonderful.

Life is good.

You’re living the dream 👍🏻

Got this, made the mistake of renting a convertible on holiday in Australia (Cairns) many years back . Roof stayed up most of the time , too bloody hot and dangerous UV , Ozone layer was zero back then. Must say UK temperate climate is well suited to drop tops, particularly those with heated seats, heated 'air scarf' and push button roofs etc.

Have to agree. I lived near Brisbane and had a SLK as my daily ride. To & from work was fine but driving in the heat of the day was roof up !

We had the roof open (MX-5) yesterday in the Yorkshire dales. But for sure when it’s too hot or on the motorway (too much traffic noise), roof closed, aircon on is the way.

But, isn't there a sign advising you to turn the a/c off at the start of death Valley?

Roads were deserted. Heaven. I live in Fleet (Hampshire) so headed out past Alton and into the South Downs toward Petersfield. Nice drive!
I owned (early 2000s) the last house on Glen Road (2a) next to the canal......Still have friends and properties there. Nice place to live!

I've put over a 1000 miles on the E500 this week - probably half with the top down - the rest of the time it was just too hot.

I've been doing a 200 mile road trip daily commute up and down the M5 / M6 ..... so hardly the most scenic of routes, but a nice burbling sound track from the exhaust and my recently fitted Apple CarPlay widget thingy made it very pleasant.

I'm just waiting for a nice stretch of weather to be able to give the cars a good clean, and then enjoy them....

At the moment just seems to be raining most weekends :(
