Hi. I recently installed a Becker BE2010 into my 1992 W124. The radio works fine however it does not illuminate at night? I thought these would be plug and play.

These units are pretty old now; I wonder if the backlighting has died?

It's likely that the illumination had a separate feed direct ftom the light switch, so that the light on the radio came on with the car's lights.

Also, from memory, there was a separate feed from the instrument cluster, that adjusted the volume automatically based on the car's speed. But the last time I installed a Becker radio was in 1994..........

"Gal" or "GALA" I think it was called on the wiring diagrams
