New car arrived today and I am trying to download current maps & software from Becker. It just does not seem to happen. I live in a village with rubbish broadband speeds (1M max) but I have waited hours and download just sticks at 1%

Has anyone who has done this got any ideas what I might be doing wrong.

I managed it eventually. At first I couldnt get the Becker update software to install from the unit.

Once it had installed it took maybe 4 hours or more to download and install to the unit itself. I struggled to understand how it can take that long.

Lets hope it doesnt need doing too often!

Just got my car today! Can someone please tell me which version of the software is the latest? Thanks

Try downloading from there? BECKER - Deutschland

Given up on mine. The download is 3Gb and takes 14 hours at my broadband speed and after it had finished it did not download to the becker

Last night I tried to check for an upgrade, note the use of the word 'tried'. First off my pc takes for ever so 'see' the unit plugged in via usb. If I get lucky and it does, the software seems to get stuck in a loop and asked me to connect the unit!

In my opinion I think that the Becker PC software is very badly written causing all the issues I have, hanging up, rebooting or basically pretty much nothing at all. Thank god it works better in the car or I would go no where, fast!

Download instructions from the site.

3. Connecting to the PC and updating
Downloading map or software updates couldn’t be easier. Simply connect the Becker MAP PILOT to your PC or laptop using the included USB cable and away you go.
The required “Becker Content Manager” software is automatically installed on your computer the first time you connect up the MAP PILOT. If automatic installation has been disabled on your computer, Content Manager can also be installed manually. To do this, open the Start menu, select “Workstation”/”Computer” and click on the Becker MP drive. In the “Becker Content Manager” folder, you will see the Setup.exe file. Click on this icon to start the installation.

I would be inclined to remove the automatically installed content manager either with the windows install/remove program or any Becker "uninstall" program. Then try installing the program manually using the setup. exe file There may also be operating systems compatibility issues also with the product geared to WINDOWS 7 for example [ Altho in theory its compatible with Windows XP [Service pack 2] VISTA and WINDOWS 7 :dk:]. To get round this you might have to find a friend with Windows 7 and a fast broadband link-- your local library might help or maybe at work if you have internet access?? - altho many are wary of installing any third party software.

Its not the greatest bit of software but I managed to get it to update eventually. One issue I had was that ther wasn't enough capacity for the upgrade so I removed most of the European maps and it upgraded very quickly. Very impressed with it so far. ( I have windows 7 and a 4 Mb internet connection). Download from the Becker site is still slow but the near capacity issue seems to be a problem

I had a call from Becker Support in response to my complaints telling me that they had problems with their site and that new maps were due soon (Q4) and that the new software with them may help downloads.

I will wait until I see Q4 maps on the Becker site and try again.

Incidentally downloaded new TomTom maps today, worked first time and took less than 2 hours.
