Just been to look at a CLK320 **********e convertible, have a few questions.

Firstly, the battery was flat when i turned up at the garage, because the car has apparently been stood for a month without been started.

Car started first time with the battery jump start connected.

But having looked at the instrument panel, it was displaying "BAS ABS Visit workshop", (guy said that there was nothing wrong with the car, and that it just needed resetting - due to the battery been flat etc.

Car has done 95k and with FMBSH.

Should not jump start an MB!!! Plays havoc with the electronics....

Battery flat after a month?? New battery to start with then or look for a drain somewhere....

Get him to take it to MB and get them to ahem...'reset' the car!

Jump starting is a nightmare as kwakdonut says ....

All sorts of sensitive electronics in there , ask him to get everything reset and then go and look at it again.

Although , saying all that , when i bought my old 320 cabrio ( since wrecked ) the battery was flat from where it had stood for 6 months  , i put a positive lead on the terminal under the bonnet , popped the boot and jump started it and it was all fine ...

Best not to though . Don't part with any cash until you've made sure all teh warnings go out.

well, saying "jump start", i mean he hooked up a booster to the car to start it.

You can reset BAS/ESP by turning the steering lock to lock 3 times, allegedly
