This is insane, only the front looks like a Hummer H2 or a Jeep. Would like to see how it will do in crash testing LOL

Would't fancy going anywhere in that. The wheels are off centre.

I don't think that "patent infringement" translates into Chinese…….

There's an SUV which really does look very similar to X5. BMW took the maker to court and lost - the case was heard in an Italian court for some reason.

Perhaps because with the appropriate financial or political "correction", the outcome is more predictable :D

I think that very soon, all those big companies that outsourced to China will be regretting it.

Patents only last for 20 years and the G is much older than that, it also depends on how tight the original patent was, but give the original, copies are never as good :D

    This probably covers it:

the glorious Gullwing shape is a work of ‘applied art’ and has been under copyright protection for decades. It’s the enforcement that has been spotty. That is, until 2012. Emboldened by a December 2010 Stuttgart regional court’s ruling affirming the Gullwing design’s copyright status, Mercedes stepped up investigating copyright violations. It is not legal to copy the Gullwing design – at least not in Germany. Gullwing AG, a German firm which planned to introduce a new Gullwing using the original Ostermeier plans and fitted with modern drivetrain, was shut down shortly after the court ruling.
