Bellhousing oily (w210)

The bottom of my w210's bellhousing has a wet/oily patch (oil not atf). Is this something to worry about or a case of they all do that?

Unless in needs topping up with oil more often than usual, I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks, did a bit of googling and it seems quite a few have the same but didn't notice it get any worse. It isn't even dripping, just wet.

Will move my paranoia to the original (!) crank pulley and belt tensioner!

It will probably be the rear main oil seal.

If it forms a drip, get it sorted as it can get worse and get on the exhaust and be a bit smelly.

Hi thanks I will keep an eye on it and hope for the best- I doubt removing the trans to get at it is cheap

That's a very minor sweat. I wouldn't call that a leak!
