Benz On The Green 2019 **11th of May**

Can you remove me from the list this year please? I had a couple of issues with my Powerflow exhaust so took it round to the garage just now for some adjustment. Well, the mechanic managed to catch the exhaust on the ramp and rip it off completely, splitting the AMG rear bumper in the process. They straight away offered to put it right at their cost but it's not going to be ready for the weekend. I was looking forward to the trip too and had already paid for the hotel booking. And sorry but I wont need the workshop special anymore Natacha.

That was really bad luck , but least the garage is putting their hands up and not causing you any further grief! Hopefully the remedial work will return everything to an acceptable condition.

Sorry to hear that...pretty unusual and bad lack for it to have happened that bad. I hope it all gets sorted OK.

Well she isn't quite ready for Sat yet but newly refurbed alloys should be back tomorrow.

A bit of polishing and waxing tonight/tomorrow and we should be good to go [emoji6]

Well, I'd taken it in because the exhaust was hitting the steering on full lock and it was it was also so low it would ground on the slightest thing (even over cobbled roads). I tried to show all this to the mechanic but he wouldn't listen and insisted on getting it on the ramp to check out. I didn't see him do it but I'm guessing he hit the ramp at a reasonable speed and the exhaust caught on something and tore completely off, from header to backbox. As it pulled off, it forced its way through the rear bumper, splitting it.

They did hold their hands up straight away though and are going to sort it all out at their cost. Unfortunately, their body chap is away until Monday and I wasn't prepared to drive it like that so I've left it with them.

New bumper skin? Or are they presuming to try and patch it up instead?

Oh what a shame!! Is there anyone near you that can bring you along?

It's an old plastic AMG rear bumper with a formed cutaway for the exhaust. I'd never get another new one so they will repair and repaint it. I'm not sure how they'll do it though.

The garage offered me a car to go in but I wouldn't want to go without my car as it's part of the reason for going. But thanks for the thought

I wondered if that might be the case, given the vehicles on your profile. If they think they're going to plastic weld it they could be in for a shock as it's more than likely the wrong type - might be worth bringing this up with them before things get out of hand.

I've used a 2-part epoxy system with fibre matting (same process they used on the 8-series episode in Wheeler Dealers) with success on a 129 AMG bumper.

They would have to mat it from behind and then "bodywork" i.e. fill and sand back the visible surface before painting it.

Yep, that's the ticket, although if you get it right the epoxy does most of the filling for you.

Thanks guys, I don't want to send this page off topic so I'll start a new post for the bumper issue.

Just returned from PCS...Natacha feeling the strain of organising you lot! Get in line and do as you are told you naughty boys and girls!!
