I want to give my 2000 R129 SL a good base to work from, can anyone recommend a good but not too aggressive cutting compound to use on it to get it back to a nice shine before applying a polish?

If you have a DA polisher, 3M perfect-it, a polish with a 3000 grit equivalent paint correction built in, but it does need to be applied by machine, not by hand.

Ah ok, I'll go with the first option as I have a bottle of that in the garage, does polish go off?, if not I'll try the other one as I have the Meguiars DA polisher which should be ok. :)
