Best option... 18 years old

You say its going to be mostly a weekend toy! How many miles do you think you will do. Any car is going to look bad on fuel if its only use is for trackdays and 'reasonable' progress!

No point looking at the government figures or comparing with what people get out of a motorway car. Even fairly normal cars can be bought down into the 10's mpg if its given some
Hmm, I'd say around 6,000 a year - if that.

Nope, no family business lol.
It's funny how people assume everything is from parents/family, not everyone's like that.

If you knew my name and the right correct terms to search, you'd find me as a director of at least 3 registered companies in the UK, as well as links to interviews etc from online blogs.

Also, I was 18 in 6 months ago nearly, so my parents would be a bit late on that present.

Ok, apologies. How does that look:

celebrity, Z, director, 40k car, wish, director, 20k, can, 20mpg, director, C220, AMG badge.

In all honesty what strikes me as odd is you start off as a successful, money no issue guy (like as if we asked or cared), then you say you wouldn't want to spend all your money on a car (meaning you don't have all of it to spend on a car to start with), then finish off about being mpg concerned (the weirdest part for me and porbably any AMG enthusiast here).

I don't mean disrespect but sometimes less (information) is more (better).

All I can say is good on you if you are doing so well at such an early age. I take it you are in the tech industry? Are you a programmer?

I don't know you so I'm not taking anything you say as an insult, just don't like the way you're assuming things.

Money isn't an issue, but at the end of the day, it's up to me if I don't want to spend a large sum at once. And because not everybody likes going to the petrol station every day or so, I don't even like going now in a 30+mpg car, let alone what it'd be in a 15. It just bores me to death.

I understand it's hard to believe that I'm successful at a young age, but not every 18 year old has to stack shelves in Tesco.

Nail on the head :)
Also had a good investment in Bitcoins a year or so back, which resulted in me having a very good return in December when they were at $1,000+

Welcome
Things may have changed but when I checked a couple of years back mercedes finance required three years of accounts.
I'm sure a quick visit to them will answer your questions definitely.
And also seeing the cars in the flesh and taking them for a test drive will help make your decision.

Good luck and enjoy!

You missed the point. "What is the best AMG car for a money no object 18 y.o.?" is all anyone needs to know to give you an advice.

But anyway, do you brush teeth every day? As an AMG owner to be, treat petrol station the same. It will become part of your routine. If you get bored that quickly, a C220 would be a better choice.

But still, it's like me burning money for no reason.

I test drove a CLA45 AMG and that had 20+ mpg, just like my cousin's returning 20+ in her C63, but I don't know how she drives really.

I refuse to go for any car with less than 300bhp, otherwise it's just a downgrade.

There are other long term members of the forum who were also extremely successful at a similar age and in the same industry sector. One in particular turns up to events in his helicopter and has his cars waiting for him.

That is the way to travel. :thumb:

I've got a friend who's 20, is an investor and is in to stocks and all that kind of stuff, he's the one that got me to invest in Bitcoins a year or so back, he's very rich now lol.

I wouldn't recommend investing anymore though, so don't take that as me trying to tell people what to invest in etc. They've dropped like $600 in 5 months, so I got out when it was recommended.

I wouldnt put too much emphasis on resale if i was you i for 1 would not buy an AMG from an 18 year old! But hey thats just me....And arrogance does not make a safe driver!

Tony.

May wait and see what the BMW M2 or Mk3 FRS brings.

I used to do work for Ford Motorsport and did a lot on the Mk1 & Mk2 RS, my pal still runs the Mk2 development car with over 465 bhp, its awesome.

The MK3 is reported to be a bit of an issue, chassis too long and the engine I believe is a 2.3 twin turbo ecoboost originally developed for the Mustang but I think it didn't work well in that car. They will struggle to find an engine with a stronger bottom end than the MK2

FWIW the MK2 beats any AMG 45 hands down but is not in the same class as the 63 and I doubt the MK3 will be as good as the 63

It depends what you are after at the end of the day, I also have a BMW M3 CSL race car and a Subaru STi Group N Rally car but when I get in the CLK it still puts a huge grin on my face it might only have 270 bhp and is slower than the other two but there is just something special about an MB :thumb:

The obc lies about mpg... There is no chance that anyone will actually average over 20mpg in a v8 amg. Mine always says 20 or 21, working it out from tank to tank it's more like 17, and that's not driving hard!

Erm, I'm averaging 20.8mpg in my CLS55k and that's over 14,000 miles and "brim to brim" calculated. Actual stats are 17 min to 28 max
Just this week it's actually 22.1mpg so its more than possible.

Oh, and I don't drive like Miss Daisy! ;)

How many miles do you get to a tank?! I think my best ever was 380 and that was on a very long run in the middle of the night!!!

Fair play fella if you have invested wisely and made a good living for yourself.
But at 18 why go for something like a C63 it's a 4 door saloon ( not your average mondo I agree) if I had your sort of cash at 18, it would have to be a GTR or something a bit more exclusive.

For information I get about 16 mpg if I drive reasonably sedate around the town.

18 with a rwd 450bhp car will be dead in a week

Why oh why does every 18 year old with a Mercedes have to tell us their age as if it's a badge of honour...look at me, 18 and I can afford a Merc...please. We'd respect you more if you just got on with it rather than major on your age. You're too young for such a powerful car...end of.
