Best option... 18 years old

I wonder if the car should have been an '***'... :D

If you have enough dosh - I'd go for an R35.

I imagine insurance will be interesting.

I had an M3 Evolution (£42k OTR new) albeit 3 years old in 2000 and £25k then at 24 and my insurance was £1600 per year.

Well worth it and I never had an incidents in it in 18 months with some interesting experiences and interesting speeds.

At 18, I'd be dead now in an R35 so ensure you get some advanced driver training unless you are the sort who won't push it (which I doubt as you are a bloke).

If the OP has the company he claims, good on him.

If he has the wealth it makes him, good on him.

Why is his car not bought through the company ? It could easily stand it and also allow the purchase/lease to be written down in the books.

Just saying like .....

That was exactly my point too and the way I would do it and if he's really smart not only can it be written down it could be very tax efficient too ;)

Thats why when we had the motorsport company all my new cars were bought by the company and registered to the company. very tax efficient with a smart accountant ;)

Wow this one caused a stir... In all honesty I agree with a lot that's been said.

I was 21 with a cls55 amg it cost me £1200 to insure. I would imagine with a 18 year old they wouldn't touch you for minimum of £6000+ maybe more.

I'd agree with others driver training will be needed in safety to others really. If I had an amg at 18 I'd be dead. I've done a lot of track days and would like to think have a good knowledge of car control due to tuition. It's all well and good buying an amg but let's be honest, in the wrong hands and fiesta to an amg isn't a sensible jump.

But if you're worrying about mpg just forget it now. I got 8mpg out of mine and max of 23 on a run.

Agree with a lot of the posts here too. I think it's very simple, 18 year old's and fast cars don't mix and I can't be convinced otherwise. Get yourself a Suzuki Swift GTi if you must change cars, be safe, laugh all the way to the bank and enjoy what you can't buy - good health.

.

OP appears to have gone to ground ... Maybe he's out buying a fancy car, maybe he's off making lots more money, maybe he spilt Ribena on his keyboard..

Will we ever know?

Sorry just to add again, 18 year olds are capable of getting this sort of finance. It's a struggle and companies such as MB UK won't do it. As most of you are aware I used to work in the new and used car sectors, I would often propose 18 year olds on deal of 25k+ without much of an issue. Especially with such a large deposit.

If he turns out to be genuine id personally love to see a young guy driving an AMG as long as he does get driving tuition like others have suggested.

I agree fair play if the kid can do it......However, coming on a forum and bragging (which it came across as initially) is not the way to get sound advice from adults

Yeah, but at 18, you aren't necessarily wise to the best way of doing everything - that's what comes with experience...

I don't understand why this thread would upset anyone - wind up or not.

Savvy? Not so savvy that he came on here winding us up. There is no way, even as a company driver, he can insure a AMG for that amount.

If he still has his money in 10 years time I'll applaud him...but I don't think it'll last...unless there's another bitcoin bubble.

I know it's slightly different, but I own and insured my c63 at 21 for £1000 per year, it is possible, I do have a number of NCB however?
