Best Speed Camera Warning Device ?

I guess experiences vary as i have used the TomTom app for over a year now with no missed cameras so far.

I can assure you having used both side by side the TT does miss cameras. It has 90% of them but is so far behind with new cameras it’s not true, especially motorway cameras. The TT system is also very slow at deleting cameras especially roadworks that have finished. I’m not anti-TT, just the opposite, I really rate their live traffic data compared to others, just not their camera database.

I agree I think that just about sums the TomTom up in my experience (6100 unit). Locally it warns of average speed cameras in the Hindhead tunnel and all of the fixed cameras around Portsmouth but in comparison to my now defunct Road Angel it misses a lot especially camera vans.
Live traffic is good but it has failed me on about 10 occasions now when I have joined the back of a very long queue, only to be told a couple of minutes into the jam there is an actual jam

Can these devices identify temporary speed camera vans now?

How does that work?

I do recall a device which was updated by users.

The PGPS app will only warn of likely locations where camera vans have been seen in the past. These are verified positions ie reported by more than one person. They also have pending mobiles ie reported by only one person but I don’t believe you can actually warn that there is a detection unit present.

I think the Road Angel can allow you to push a button if you see a van to warn other users that there is actually a mobile camera active. The Waze navigation app also allows you to warn of such live incidents eg police cars, camera vans etc

That description fits the Road Angel, It's a GPS based unit and RA have an active database. Each of the later units have a sim card that is updated by both other users and RA pass this info through their database. If you go back a few posts you can see my experience of the unit.

Righto, I thought that I had missed out on some important development.

I've just checked the Road Angel web site and they are selling the Gem+ for £169 that's not bad considering what it does. The new model looks to be a few steps up.
If I were doing the sort of mileage I did a few years back I would say it's worth every penny. I'll wait and hear what feedback the new unit has.

What is the best speed camera warning device

Social / community based traffic and navigation systems, they can defeat all police / "Safety" camera activity. Y'all should download waze app on your mobiles. ;)

The TomTom app can be updated by users but I dont know how quick the updates are.
