I have a thin bracket 3/16in thick made of cast iron of an engraving machine
(Taylor Hobson CB ) that I accidently broke. Tried a few epoxy's without success
Any member heard of JB Weld (used to epoxy weld exhausts) or similar
Help most appreciated

I use JB Weld in many of my modelling endeavours (model aircraft before any of you get any 'funny' ideas!) - while strong, it's still a metal-loaded epoxy resin and will soften with any substantial heat. If the broken bit hasn't got to take much load or heat, then it's certainly worth a try.

There is no heat and its just to tension a belt
I actually drilled and fitted a pin in the joint to take out any stress

Thanks again GordonTarling

I used it to mend a broken mounting lug on my son's windscreen wiper linkage. It's still holding nearly two years later.

Cast welding is another.

Why not ask Taylor Hobson if they can supply a new part?

Made in 1946
Is has "War paint finish " on the side

Unfortunately TH went out of business long ago
Pity their kit last forever

you could try Bellzona too (not sure on spelling) thats a 2 part mix too.
I have a set at work where are you situated if not to far i can drop it off.

Tony.

Belzona make ******* hard glue - but its still basically an epoxy. It aint cheap though!

Oh, no they didn't.

They still make metrology testing devices now.

Taylor Hobson - Roughness, Roundness and Non-Contact Metrology.

Its an engraver
See my first post

Taylor Hobson (Optics) are still in Business
Their engraver was developed to manufacture their optical moulds I believe

Taylor Hobson (Engravers) were bought out by Pantograph Services in Leeds
But they don't manufacture any more
They will refurbish my CB for a lot of money :0)

I am in south Manchester, a bit far, thanks for the offer

I've used JB for years including sealing a spark plug where the thread had virtually stripped - very impressive stuff
