This is a post for a friend who's car is slightly over filled.

Is it OK for the oil level to be around half a cm over the max line, do the manufacturers take into consideration human error (or as some would call it idiot error).

Secondly what's the best way to remove excess oil. Ideally something that can be used to suck via the dipstick tube.

Anything from 'halfrauds' or euros? (Links would be appreciated)

Brilliant, might see if the pharmacy has something of that sort. I would prefer to buy from a local shop rather than online as it is not my own car therefore cant really be waiting around for delivery, also the car is a daily driver.

Worse comes to worst, unbolt the sump plug and drop some oil I guess.

What car is it and and if only half a cm over would just a oil filter change rectify it

Syringe would probably be cheaper though

Slightly over.

That amount over won't make any difference. Keep your eye on it to ensure it doesn't increase over the weeks as that would be a sign of DPF dilution due to failed regen
