Has anyone started on what they thought was a big job on their MB, only to find it was in fact a little job? (Or indeed, the other way around!)

The SRS lamp on my W124 has never worked, and I always assumed there was a problem with the SRS. Today, I thought I'd have a look at the lamp in the dash, expecting it to either be missing or pulled out by an PO (because it would be on permanently.)

Yep, there was the lamp holder, hanging down the back of the dash. I pushed it back into the dash, switched on the ignition, the lamp came on..........and went out:bannana:

SRS fixed!

Any one else had big jobs turn into small job (or the other way around?)

In my W208 my reverse lights were not working. I checked the bulbs and fuses and all was ok.

I read some threads and thought it would be the reverse switch located on the gear selector. Getting access to this part was a real pain and needed many centre consul screws removing. I eventually gave up after 2 attempts, maybe taking me 4-5 hrs in total.

Finally in desperation I rechecked the bulbs and fuses. The fuse connectors were mildly oxidised. A quick rub down and 2 mins later the reverse lights were working again!

I replaced the blown "ambient" light in my C Class interior mirror with an LED replacement. Expected it to be a difficult and awkward job lasting several hours, I was surprised that it only took a matter of 10 minutes or so. A doddle. And it all worked - and is still working.

Wheel bearing failed on my w202 took it to 124 works picked it up next day job done.
:p Thanks Ian.
