Came across this guys YouTube channel while researching Christmas tree light switch mode power supplies. Remarkably clear explanations of complex electronics. Here he explains how a digital Vernier caliper works. Very useful piece of kit for any budding mechanic and around 5 pounds you can't go wrong.

The "reader / display" head looks pretty ubiquitous. Whether it's a generic component or some are cheap(er) copies of the original I have no idea, but it looks very similar to the one on my Draper Digital Tread Depth Gauge:

 
Been watching his stuff for a while now, I like his style of presenting & find it quite interesting. This one cracked me up (it's a spoof btw)

Big Clive's YouTube channel is certainly a very good one if your into electronics, explains the working of things in very clear easy to understand language.
