Forgive my ignorance but I've picked up snippets about the above topic on various forums and am starting to worry about whether my sl320 (97P) is a ticking time bomb that contains a wiring loom that will one day fall apart and cost me £X,000.
Can anyone tell me which models/years are affected by this problem, and what one can do, if anything, to prevent disaster?

pre- 96 only - and the only thing you can do is replace the loom..

only really affects engine bay looms - just check that yours isnt by taking a small part (such as a wire from a minor sensor / switch / light) and bending it - if it cracks / flakes then its bad news...

fingers crossed.

all seems well under my bonnet (have already looked for signs of problems). seeing as my car is 97 I assume I am OK.
thanks for the reply.
