So I've got my new car - and my list of mods - but the paint work hasn't been as well looked after on a 2 1/2 YO car as I would have hoped by the previous owner.

So.. I'm off to see Lewis at Auto Di Lusso - a local Detailer - Auto Di Lusso

I'll keep you appraised of the outcome.

I am feeling a little left out, here is the no-mans land that is Essex, home to the orange blonde and the cliche, but I wish we had a decent detailer nearby. Are you having the full G-Technique treatment after correction?

Well.. I have a plethora of scratches and swirls.. Plus some tidy up work inside.

I'm off to the unit on Friday for an initial meeting, get the paint depths checked and a full assessment by Lewis.

Apparently he loves working on black cars...

Giantvanman, there is a Profesional Detailers in Essex Black Diamond Automotive, they were trained buy Mulgari Automotive, I've had both of my be vehicles paint corrected by them, and both look amazing, there work is unbelievable, definitely worth contacting them

Thanks for the recommend. I had looked at their website previously whilst hunting and was a little put off; they don't mention what products they use and you have join to see examples of their work. TBH, I find both a little off-putting but based on your recommend, I think I will swing by their premises unannounced and see what's what.

No worries, i did mention that to them and they said there website was still under construction and they were having a few issues, I contacted them threw Facebook

Thanks for that, Tom. Please be assured that I am not doubting you or pre-judging them, simply being cautious.

Also there premises are set back of the road so you may need to contact them, but there's a small sign at the entrance

Thanks for that, Conquistador. I have looked through his blog etc; nice work on your car. His equipment looks very shiny; is he that OCD or is he relatively new to this? I have looked on and off on Detailing world for recommends in Essex and the nearest is a place in Kent and just couldn't believe there were no decent detailers in Essex. Will watch out for a report/Blog on your Audi.

So back oop Norf to Derbyshire, and my trip to Auto Di Lusso.

I met with Lewis, please see below a snap of a VW R32 he was working on - saw this in the workshop - photo is from his FB page.

The attention to detail is sublime!

So for my car...

- Full paint restoration programme and two years protection / sealant applied
- Interior valet
- Exterior plastics re-dyed black and protection applied
- Wheels off, cleaned and conditioned, calipers cleaned and painted, wheel arches cleaned

It's not going to be cheap, there's 25 hours of work to do on the car.

The expectation that has been set is very high, based on seeing his work.

A Lapiz Blue Golf R, very nearly my colour choice and does look fantastic when prepared properly.

By way of an update- the car has had some initial work done to remove a number of dents, a bit of damage to the rear bumper (why did my Neighbour not park in his usual spot?? :fail ), and most of the large scratches.

Booked in for three days next week at Auto di Lusso for Paint Rectification.

I descoped the wheels, as these are destined to be tidied up, painted, and sealed. I lack the patience for trying to sort Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels.

Pics to follow next Friday / Saturday after Lewis has worked his magic on the car.

Spent part of the afternoon, debating all things cars whilst Lewis (the owner of Auto Di Lusso) took a break from the white 911 that he was detailing.

Transpired that he's a very focused young man who has worked solidly over the past year to build a successful detailing studio.

His attention to detail is exceptional, I have high hopes for my car.

It's now safely ensconced at the unit, and I'll see the end result on Friday night.

If this goes well, then the diamond cut alloys are the next on his remediation list. Decided to get these painted - based on other threads. Again, the previous owner wasn't too particular about these.

A couple of work-in-progress shots, collect the car on Tuesday.

So the wait is nearly over, the last coat of wax is going on.

I'm going to do a full write up of the Auto Di Lusso experience, so closing of this thread for the time being.

Looks great! Now you just need to take care when washing it :thumb:

Looks nice, but are they not going to treat the inner wheel arch liners??
