Evening all

first post on here but have had vitos for a few years now
So weve just fixed the injector that was giving us BD ,
the rubber gasket on the old top cover was knackd, a friend picked a new one up todayfrom main dealer.
the only thing is this one has no rubber seal ,the thing is when iphoned MB they said i had to buy the whole unit to get the seal/gasket.
when this was questioned they told him they dont do them.
First class tossers feeling, a tad annoyed ....
would it matter putting the old one back on less seal

thanks in advance

The 'seals' that I think you are talking about cost about £12 a set from your local MB agent, they may have to order them in.
Use plenty of lubricant when you fit them, easy job.

Leave the engine cover off, permanently?

I can't hear the difference. But I can spot any early signs of BD, plus leak-off pipes and fuel line O rings failing.

Cheers

It's mind boggling how they are so clueless

Mine's been running since I fixed the BD on it for over a year with the cover off, no problems and it allows me to do a visual inspection for leaks a lot easier.
