Black designation badge

Seen a 'new' C Class recently with the model designation on the back in Black and not the standard Chrome. Assume this would have to be done professionally?

Not necessarily.

Peel it off with some fishing braid slide behind it, rub it up with some 600 or 1000 grit sandpaper, bit of primer and satin or gloss black and stick it back on with 3M double sided sticky tape trimmed to shape.

Takes a bit of skill and handy work for it to look professionally done, but doesn't have to be if you're not useless with DIY.
