I have seen some pictures of CLS's with black headlight housings, I think it looks amazing.

Has anyone done it, can anyone do it for me? Is it easy?

it can be definitely done, think it requires the front bumper to come off then you can remove the headlights. on the US site people bake the headlights in the oven to loosen up the glue holding the lenses on and then prise them off. The internal reflector can then be painted and just resealed with silicone. I just dont think I would be brave enough to put them in the oven

Same here, the painting and the unfitting and refitting should be ok its the unsealing that scares me. Especially at £300 a side (used) O_o

I did it and there's another member here who has done the same thing.

It's relatively straightforward, just dont go mixing C with F and bake at the correct temp. I mixed it up and have a slightly burnt headlamp!

Have you got a step by step guide?

I'm afraid not, I just followed some guides from the US forum

I painted with Halfords satin black, I first made sure to wash the reflectors with washing up liquid and a scouring pad to give it a good key and wiped down with IPA.

Check YouTube for the step by step guide I saw someone did it with the heater gun but takes longer then in the oven

I am going to have a go at tinting the lenses first, as I am too scared to pull the lights apart

They are quite strong though if you bake them right you will pull it right
I'm planning to do it on my w211 very soon
