Black metal windscreen strips

Hi does any body know what is enatailed in changing the metal strips that go across the roof and down the windscreen on a W203. Also do the black metal strips that fit on top of the door under the window just clip in ?
The reason I am asking as i have just had a quote from the Stealers for £1600 to change them as the front and rear screens have to come out.
Sounds daft to me but is this true?

It looks like part of the costa is to paint these black surrounds, surley the finish is black as standard?

I can confirm that they're expensive, I looked at upgrading the flat-grey sport ones to the black-chrome elegance ones and it came to megabucks, even from a breaker.

They should be gloss-black plastic from the factory, AFAIK.
