BLACK SEA COLLISION VIDEO

Still a good trick to only bend one blade: although it's only a 3 bladed prop.

Possible I think if something small like a wingtip passed rapidly through the prop disc (depending on the closing speed and prop rpm). Of course there may have been less serious damage to another blade (or blades) as well.

Or it could be the early birds campaigning for working more sociable hours.

At 3:50 it is explained that the extended range variant has an additional propeller blade.

That would be the bird strike.
Anyone know what it is they're striking for?
State retirement age to be lifted from 62 to 64 ?

That's all the rage "round here."

But you're not in France
Judging from the rubbish piling up outside on the street, I must be.

Day 57 of rolling strikes here, with two out three people still opposed to the retirement age being lifted to 64, but the Government’s still trying to shove it through because it doesn’t have the money.

On Wednesday we were told not to have accidents because A&E can’t cope. I watched a demonstration on the local motorway which caused an eight mile tailback. (I was going in the other direction.)

17 degrees and sunny.

What a strange phrase that is "near miss".....near hit surely.......if you only nearly missed something you have actually hit it. My wife in her SLK had a "near miss" with a deer a while back.....an actual miss would have been better....then it would not have needed a new wing, door and headlight!

I was wondering how long it would be before one of the many Air Crash Investigators here started a thread. 😏
Oh yes!
My theory?
Like the recently-grounded SpiceJet crew, I reckon the Soviet pilot was reaching for his mid morning snack, but nudged the throttles and fuel jettison switch accidentally. :D

I'm guessing that Russkies didn't know that the drone had cameras fitted...?

I reckon they thought the view up & aft would be much more restricted than it actually is (given the position of the camera gimbal under the nose).

Have the Russians responded to the video? Haven't seen anything.

Good analysis of the video by ex-USAF / current Boeing 777 pilot Juan Browne here:

He points out that the Russian pilot was closing with the drone in the blind spot underneath his aircraft, making a collision very likely:

He also shows that at least one other prop blade was seriously damaged in the impact (rotated into the feathered position).
